Keeping things simple in summer

Slow, Hot Summer

Summer night
Well folks, I would have blogged about summer months ago had I not been so hot and lazy!  It's been a record-breaking summer in the Northeast with about five heat waves, each one lasting weeks.  Our savior has been air conditioning in this part of the country.  However, that's not to say that summer hasn't brought its traditional fun.  For me that's been my family's annual trip to The Hamptons where we visited many of the local vineyards (bringing home SIXTEEN bottles from Wolffer Estate, Channing Daughters, Paumanok, Osprey's Dominion, Pellegrini and Laurel Lakes) and ate tons of fresh sea food (thank you Silver's for my annual fresh lobster salad).  It's also meant trips to the country which have been particularly interesting with art shows, outdoor festivals, free concerts, etc.  Now with just about one month of summer left, we should remember to take advantage of its offerings.  Like me, I hope that you'll try to get to the beach at least once more, leave the office early on one more Friday, keep your decorating light, white and care-free, seek out some passion fruit-flavored sorbetti or gelatti and, of course, quietly enjoy one last glass of chilled rose' from your favorite outdoors spot.
